Puerto Rico in Pictures
Punta Tuna Lighthouse, Maunabo, Puerto Rico
There are fifteen lighthouses around Puerto Rico. One of them is located in the Maunabo municipio, Guayama district, on the South East side of the island. The nearby Route 901, is very scenic, offering panoramic vistas of the coast.
The lighthouse can be visited from Wednesday to Sunday, 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. There is no entry fee.
The Lighthouse was built in 1893 in a neoclassic style. Currently is owned and managed by the U.S. Coast Guard and is an active aid to navigation. The light is visible from 25 miles (40Km).
The tower is octagonal with a square base. Inside there is a spiral iron staircase, leading to the lantern.
