    AKT2 wt Allele

Human AKT2 wild-type allele is located within 19q13.1-q13.2 and is approximately 53 kb in length. This allele, which encodes RAC-beta serine/threonine-protein kinase protein, is involved in mediation of cell survival and plays a putative role in the metabolic actions of insulin. AKT2 gene amplification is associated with certain cancers such as ovarian and pancreatic carcinomas. An allelic variant of AKT2 is associated with the development of diabetes mellitus type II.
