    Alcaligenes faecalis

    Definition 1

    A species of obligately aerobic, Gram negative, rod shaped bacteria assigned to the phylum Proteobacteria. This bacteria is motile, oxidase positive, catalase positive, does not reduce nitrates and degrades urea. A. faecalis is found in soil, water, and fecal matter and is an opportunistic pathogen in humans. (NCI Thesaurus)
