    CA1 Field of the Cornu Ammonis

    The first of four fields in the cornu ammonis of the hippocampus which receives inputs from the perforant path originating in layer III of the entorhinal cortex. This area consists of pyramidal cells that send axons to layer V of the entorhinal cortex and the subiculum. (NCI Thesaurus)
