    Campylobacter gracilis

    Definition 1

    A species of microaerophilic, Gram-negative, straight bacilli assigned to the phylum Proteobacteria This species is nonmotile, non-spore forming, catalase negative, oxidase negative urease negative, indole negative, reduces nitrate and nitrite, but does not hydrolyze casein, starch or esculin. C. gracilis, known formerly as Bacteroides gracilis, is mostly found in deep tissue infections. (NCI Thesaurus)
