    Cardiovascular Nurse

Cardiac/Vascular nurses provide comprehensive nursing care to individuals diagnosed with cardiac/vascular disease as well as those identified at risk for cardiac/vascular events. These services are provided in a variety of settings including acute and ambulatory care facilities, community-based facilities, and work-site and school-based programs. Cardiac/vascular nursing practice promotes achievement and maintenance of optimal cardiac/vascular wellness. The cardiac/vascular nurse is responsible for the development, coordination, and evaluation of a plan of care that uses a multi-disciplinary/case management approach. While concentrating on cardiac/vascular health, the practice considers all influences on health status and the related social and behavioral problems. The theoretical basis for this nursing practice incorporates physiological and psychosocial concepts of health as they affect cardiac/vascular wellness. (ANCC) (NCI Thesaurus)
