    DEK wt Allele

Human DEK wild-type allele is located within 6p23 and is approximately 40 kb in length. This allele, which encodes protein DEK, plays a role in both 3' splice site discrimination and intron removal during mRNA formation. Translocation of the DEK gene is associated with acute myeloid leukemia. This gene is overexpressed in certain types of cancer such as bladder cancer, colon cancer, larynx cancer, and melanoma.
