    Dental Epidemiology

Studies into the link between dental and oral health and systemic disease. Oral health problems have been associated with an increased risk for a variety of systemic diseases including cardiovascular disease, respiratory disease, preterm and low birth weight infants, and earlier death. Studies are needed that evaluate physiological pathways that connect oral and systemic conditions. (NCI Thesaurus)
