    Diaphragmatic Hernia

    Definition 1

    A congenital or acquired weakness or opening in the diaphragm which allows abdominal contents to protrude into the chest cavity; congenital diaphragmatic hernias are caused when the embryonic diaphragm fails to fuse. (NCI Thesaurus)
