    GLTSCR1 wt Allele

Human GLTSCR1 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 19q13.3 and is approximately 24 kb in length. This allele, which encodes glioma tumor suppressor candidate region gene 1 protein, plays a putative role in the inhibition of cell growth. The GLTSCR1 gene is frequently deleted in gliomas. Certain allelic variants of this gene are associated with both the development of oligodendrogliomas and the aggressiveness of prostate carcinomas. (NCI Thesaurus)
