    HC-Toxin

    A host-specific toxin from the maize pathogen Cochliobolus carbonum. An inhibitor of histone deacetylase, it is a cyclic tetrapeptide containing an epoxide alpha-amino acid. Inhibition of histone deacetylase is sensitive to mercaptoethanol treatment. (NCI Thesaurus)
