    Human LIFR wild-type allele is located within 5p13-p12 and is approximately 116 kb in length. This allele, which encodes leukemia inhibitory factor receptor protein, is involved in the regulation of differentiation, survival and proliferation for a variety of cell types in both the adult and developing embryo.
