    Listeria welshimeri

    Definition 1

    A species of facultatively anaerobic, Gram positive, rod shaped bacteria in the phylum Firmicutes. This species is motile by peritrichous flagella, asporogenous, catalase positive, oxidase negative, unable to reduce nitrates to nitrites, hydrolyzes esculin and produces acid from D glucose, D xylose and alpha methyl D mannoside. L. welshimeri is found in soil and is regarded as nonpathogenic. (NCI Thesaurus)
