    Mitotic Count

The number of mitoses identified under the microscope in tumors. It is one of the parameters that determine the grade of malignant tumors. The method of counting varies, according to the specific tumor examined. Usually the mitotic count is determined based on the number of mitoses per high power field (40X) or 10 high power fields.
