    Necrobiosis Lipoidica

    Definition 1

    An uncommon inflammatory skin condition, often associated with diabetes mellitus, that is characterized by the formation of multiple shiny atrophic lesions thought to be due to collagen degeneration with a granulomatous response, thickening of blood vessel walls, and fat deposition. The lesions are usually found on the leg. (NCI Thesaurus)

    Definition 2

    A degenerative disease of the dermal connective tissue characterized by the development of erythematous papules or nodules in the pretibial area. The papules form plaques covered with telangiectatic vessels. More than half of the affected patients have diabetes. (NLM, Medical Subject Headings)
