    PIM1 wt Allele

Human PIM1 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 6p21.2 and is approximately 5 kb in length. This allele, which encodes proto-oncogene serine/threonine-protein kinase Pim-1 protein, plays a role in the proliferation and survival of blood cells. The PIM1 gene is overexpressed in hematopoietic malignancies such as chronic myeloid leukemia and acute lymphocytic leukemia. (NCI Thesaurus)
