    PML/RARA Fusion Gene

A fusion gene that results from a chromosomal translocation t(15;17)(q22;q21) which fuses the first 3 exons of the PML gene with the last 7 exons of the RARA gene. This fusion is associated with acute promyelocytic leukemia. Three transcript variants are possible based on the three breakpoint clusters in the PML gene. (NCI Thesaurus)
