    PPP1CA wt Allele

Human PPP1CA wild-type allele is located within 11q13 and is approximately 4 kb in length. This allele, which encodes serine/threonine-protein phosphatase PP1-alpha catalytic subunit protein, plays a role in the dephosphorylation of phosphoproteins and exit from the mitotic stage of the cell cycle. The PPP1CA gene is associated with susceptibility to cancers such as type I multiple endocrine neoplasia. (NCI Thesaurus)
