    Prempro

A commercial combination preparation, by Wyeth Pharmaceuticals, of conjugated estrogens, including sodium estrone sulfate, sodium equilin sulfate, and the progestin medroxyprogesterone acetate. Prempro is used to treat diminishing levels of estrogen in menopausal and postmenopausal women. Maintaining adequate estrogen levels decreases symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, irregular menstruation, fat redistribution, mood swings, sleep disorders, vaginal dryness and osteoporosis. Medroxyprogesterone acetate is added to prevent endometrial proliferation and a subsequent elevated risk of estrogen-induced endometrial cancer. (NCI Thesaurus)
