    Primordial Germ Cell

    A mesodermal precursor of germ cells, detectable at four weeks of fetal development. It originates in the allantois and then migrates through the hindgut and into the genital ridge, where it proliferates and differentiates into an oogonia or spermatogonia cell. (NCI Thesaurus)
