    Quadrivalent vaccine

    Pronunciation

    A vaccine that works by stimulating an immune response against four different antigens, such as four different viruses or other microorganisms. For example, Gardasil is a quadrivalent vaccine that helps protect the body against infection with human papillomaviruses (HPV) types 6, 11, 16, and 18. HPV types 6 and 11 cause most cases of genital warts. HPV types 16 and 18 cause most cases of cervical cancer and cause other types of cancer. (NCI Dictionary)
