    RET wt Allele

    Human RET wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 10q11.2 and is approximately 53 kb in length. This allele, which encodes proto-oncogene tyrosine-protein kinase receptor ret protein, plays a role in neural crest development. Mutations in the gene are associated with multiple endocrine neoplasia, type IIA, multiple endocrine neoplasia, type IIB, Hirschsprung disease, and medullary thyroid carcinoma. (NCI Thesaurus)
