    Rous Sarcoma Virus

    Definition 1

    A species of single-stranded, reverse-transcribing RNA retrovirus of the genus alpharetrovirus and the family retroviridae. It is the first oncovirus described in the literature and was found to cause sarcoma in chickens. (NCI Thesaurus)
