    Salk Institute Cancer Center

The Salk Institute Cancer Center aims to understand fundamental aspects of biology related to cancer with the ultimate goal of reducing cancer incidence, morbidity, and mortality, based on the philosophy that basic research in molecular, cellular, and developmental biology has the power to illuminate underlying causes of cancer, often in unexpected ways. It was designated as an NCI cancer center in 1973. (NCI Thesaurus)
