Human SARNP wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 12q13.2 and is approximately 65 kb in length. This allele, which encodes SAP domain-containing ribonucleoprotein, plays a role in binding to both DNA and RNA. A chromosomal translocation t(11;12)(q23;q13) of this gene and the MLL gene is associated with acute myelomonocytic leukemia. (NCI Thesaurus)
