    Scarf Sign

    When testing the newborn infant for neuromuscular maturity, the "scarf sign" test is carried out by drawing the newborn's arm across the chest to the opposite shoulder until resistance is felt. In term infants, the elbow should not cross the midline of the chest. (NCI Thesaurus)
