    SILV wt Allele

    Human SILV wild-type allele is located within 12q13-q14 and is approximately 13 kb in length. This allele, which encodes melanocyte protein Pmel 17, may be involved in the regulation of melanin production. Elevated expression of the gene is observed in some melanomas. (NCI Thesaurus)
