    SOCS1 wt Allele

Human SOCS1 wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of 16p13.13 and is approximately 2 kb in length. This allele, which encodes suppressor of cytokine signaling 1 protein, plays a role in the negative regulation of cytokine signaling. Mutation of the gene is associated with Hodgkin lymphoma and primary mediastinal B-cell lymphoma. Aberrant methylation of the gene is associated with a large number of cancers and other diseases.
