    Squamous Nodule of the Mouse Mammary Gland

    Definition 1

    A focal area of hyperplasia in which the majority of the glandular epithelium has been replaced by squamous epithelium. The squamous nodule frequently has an inflammatory stroma but with less inflammation than observed in an inflammatory nodule. (NCI Thesaurus/MMHCC)

    Definition 2

    When transplanted into syngeneic mice, the squamous nodule rarely becomes malignant. However, the Squamous Nodules are associated with adenosquamous carcinomas or with squamous cell carcinomas. (NCI Thesaurus/MMHCC)
