    STS wt Allele

    Human STS wild-type allele is located in the vicinity of Xp22.32 and is approximately 135 kb in length. This allele, which encodes steryl-sulfatase protein, plays a role in conversion of sulfated steroids to estrogens during pregnancy. Mutations in this gene are associated with steroid sulfatase deficiency. (NCI Thesaurus)
