    Subependymoma

    Definition 1

A benign, slow growing neoplasm which is typically attached to a ventricular wall. It is composed of glial tumor cell clusters embedded in an abundant fibrillary matrix with frequent microcystic change. Some lesions have the histological features of both subependymoma and ependymoma. It is often detected incidentally and has a very favorable prognosis. (Adapted from WHO.) (NCI Thesaurus)

    Definition 2

A benign neoplasm of the brain localized in the vicinity of a ventricular wall and is composed of glial tumor cell clusters embedded in an abundant fibrillary matrix with frequent microcystic changes. (NCI Thesaurus/CDISC)

    Definition 3

Rare, slow-growing, benign intraventricular tumors, often asymptomatic and discovered incidentally. The tumors are classified histologically as ependymomas and demonstrate a proliferation of subependymal fibrillary astrocytes among the ependymal tumor cells.
