    Tetrahydrobiopterin

    A cofactor that is essential for the activity of aromatic amino acid hydroxylases. Tetrahydrobiopterin degrades phenylalanine, and facilitates the biosynthesis of several neurotransmitters and the production of nitric oxide. (NCI Thesaurus)
