Tumor Necrosis Factor Receptor Superfamily, Member 1B
Definition 1
A 70-kDa high-affinity cell surface receptor for tumor necrosis factor. (NCI Thesaurus)
Definition 2
TNFR2 is a 70 kD high-affinity cell surface receptor for tumor necrosis factor. TNFBR is the larger of the two TNF receptors, has a single membrane-spanning domain, and has an extracellular domain with sequence similarity to NGF receptor and B-cell activation protein BP50. TNFBR is present on many cell types, especially of myeloid origin, and is strongly expressed on stimulated T- and B-lymphocytes. TNFBR is the main TNF receptor on circulating T-cells and the major mediator of autoregulatory apoptosis in CD8+ cells. TNFBR may act with TNFR1 to kill nonlymphoid cells. (from OMIM 191191 and NCI) (NCI Thesaurus)
