    The University of Virginia Cancer Center has a mission to develop a collaborative approach to basic and translational research coupled with the delivery of multi-specialty, patient-centered care. It's special mission is to identify new frontiers of knowledge that can be brought to bear in the fight against cancer. The Center received its NCI designation in 1987. (NCI Thesaurus)
