    Glutamine Amidotransferase Inhibitor

    Any substance that inhibits glutamine amidotransferase, an enzyme that catalyzes the removal of the ammonia group from glutamine and transfers it to another substrate. Inhibition of glutamine amidotransferase inhibits de novo purine synthesis and results in inhibition of DNA synthesis and cell cycle arrest. (NCI Thesaurus)
