    HMGA2 wt Allele

Human HMGA2 wild-type allele is located within 12q15 and is approximately 142 kb in length. This allele, which encodes high mobility group protein HMGI-C, plays a role in chromatin remodeling and DNA-dependent transcriptional regulation. The HMGA2 gene is overexpressed in several types of cancer such as neuroblastomas and pituitary adenomas. Translocation of this gene is associated with lipomas, pulmonary chondroid hamartomas and uterine leiomyomata. (NCI Thesaurus)
