    Interleukin 12 Receptor Beta

Human high affinity Interleukin 12 Receptor Beta (Type I Cytokine Receptor 2 Family) is composed of Interleukin 12 Receptor Beta 1 Chain (IL12RB1 Gene) and Interleukin 12 Receptor Beta 2 Chain (IL12RB2 Gene), both type I transmembrane proteins involved in signal transduction and each containing 5 FNIII domains; a box 1 motif required for JAK interaction/activation; and a WSXWS motif for protein folding, intracellular transport, and cell-surface receptor binding. IL12RB1/2 activity appears to contribute to host defense mechanisms and the inflammatory response. Both IL12RB1 oligomers and IL12RB2 oligomers act as a low affinity IL12 receptor.
