    Liquid-Based Cytology

    A method of preparing cervical samples for examination in the laboratory. A sample is collected using a spatula or brush and then the collected cells are transferred into a preservative liquid. The cells are then rinsed and applied to a slide for examination by a cytologist. (NCI Thesaurus)
