    NPM1/RARA Short Fusion Gene

A fusion gene (~1.9 kb) that results from a chromosomal translocation t(5;17)(q35;q21) which fuses the first 442 nucleotides of the NPM1 gene to exon 3 of the RARA gene. This rearrangement is rare and is associated with acute myeloid leukemia. (NCI Thesaurus)
