    Small Inducible Cytokine A3

Macrophage Inflammatory Protein-1 is a monokine involved in the acute inflammatory recruitment and activation of polymorphonuclear leukocytes. There are two protein components of MIP1, alpha and beta. MIP-1 alpha has been identified as an early G0/G1 switch gene in blood mononuclear cells. RANTES, MIP-1 alpha, and MIP-1 beta are major HIV-suppressive factors produced by CD8-positive T-cells. (from OMIM 182283 and NCI) (NCI Thesaurus)
