    Apoptosis-Stimulating of p53 Protein 2

Found only in the cytosol, TP53BP2 impedes cell cycle progression beyond G2/M. It enhances p53 trans-activation function and induces p21 (CDKN1A) expression. TP53BP2 contains ankyrin repeats and an SH3 domain, required for interaction with p53 and BCL2; TP53BP2 cannot bind both proteins simultaneously. (from OMIM 602143 and NCI) (NCI Thesaurus)
