    Hydrochlorothiazide

    A short acting thiazide diuretic. Hydrochlorothiazide (HCTZ) is widely used to treat hypertension and edema. This agent's metabolite appears to preferentially bind to and accumulate in red blood cells. This agent is primarily excreted by the kidneys. (NCI Thesaurus)
